August 6th my wife took her car to Valley Import Services, 410 Mount Clinton Pike, Harrisonburg Virgina to have a wheel bearing replaced because it was making noise. After being charged $305, the noise was still there, so she took it back a week later. They said the sound was in the rear diff, and it would be $800 to fix it, and charged her $45 for their effort. A short-notice business trip called her to North Carolina where the same bearing went out, and she was towed to the local mechanic who replaced it after a stay overnight. He said it was evident from the condition of the grease and slight corrosion that the bearing had never been replaced. I asked for the bearing. I called the bearing manufacturer. They said the part number stamped into the bearing race removed in N.C. corresponded to a factory installed bearing. Valley Imports refused my request for a refund of parts and labor. I'm telling everyone Valley Import Services was unable to explain how an original part they claim they replaced was found to be defective.IP: Logged |

Response back to this letter FROM OWNERS OF VALLEY IMPORT SERVICE LLC!! First off this matter was settled,we gave there money back in full. (did not say anything about that) Ok, we replace the bearing in there vehicle and the noise was gone when they picked up (customer agreed when asked)a noise in the back started few weeks later and we asked to see the vehicle after myself and my partner and one of our employees on this job we all came to the same point. It sounded like the rear diff. So we added a product by BG to see if this would help out.Told the customer this and there was no charge of $45 (dont know anything about this) When the problem happened on her trip she called us and we told her that if the bearing was bad we put in just bring the parts back with a invoice showing that is was for the same side and we would give a full refund on parts and labor that we charged.(we did mess up on the finding of this problem the second time and we never said that we did not) all we asked was for prof of the work that was done.Customer comes to shop with a race (part of the bearing)we asked for the invoice and this was said to us (i don't have time for paper work)and then they wanted us to refund the money back in buying them tires (nothing to do with the bearing)what we asked for they did not bring,so I guess you can just walk into a place of business and want a refund on something just because you have the item,it dont work that way.He asked us to see the bearing we had so we ordered one from the parts house and when it came the numbers did not match(yes) but there where two different numbers for that vehicle and they sent the wrong one over. After finding this out the customer came back after we called and left a message about this error (over a week or so), we showed them the bearing and the numbers matched. She agreed that the work was done and at that time we refunded the full amount back. We run a honest and friendly shop , mistakes happen to everyone and yes, us too , we are not perfect never claimed to be , but make sure you write the facts before you write a letter about are business and leaving out the most important parts (the whole truth) God Bless IP: Logged |
