I took my car into carmax in Lithia Springs Georgia on 3 seperate occasions and they are an absolute joke when it comes to repair and customer service. They continue to charge you for repairs that that fail to properly diagnose. I brought my car in for a brake problem and they have yet to figure out the problem. Initially I was told I needed a rotor and remaining rotors needed resurfacing. Later a break booster-replaced, later a master cylinder-replaced, master cylinder that was replaced-faulty, they went back to the brake booster and now claiming it was actually a faulty brake booster. That makes me feel really good considering I drove out of there with a faulty braking part. Only to return, again with the same braking problem! This has become a nightmare! Carmax should be ashamed! They continue to charge the consumer diagnostic fees and warranty deductables that they don't properly diagnose or repair properly. They continue to charge warranty companies fees for services that they can't repair. This is highway robbery!------------------

If your a woman have a guy take your car in... maybe the mechanic wants you to keep coming back for other reasons besides your car. I had a mechanic that became a stalker and the ordeal started with a tire problem.IP: Logged |

I too bought a car from Carmax back in 2002. I have never gotten satisfactory service from these guys. I bought the extended warranty too. I took it in for a water pump replacement and picked it up at closing time. I cranked the vehicle and immediately got the radiator low light. I caught the manager as he was locking up and he said to leave and we will take care of it in the morning. I said all it needs is coolant added. After huffing and puffing about it, he went back in and brought it up to level. I had a power window motor replaced later and when we closed the door the panel fell off. I had some engine work done also and later found 2 vacum hoses disconnected. This place is a joke all around.IP: Logged |

You get what you pay for.....Carmax is the same company as Circuit City, from Electronics to cars, how specialized can they be?I was in the US car business for 12 years so knew the game all to well. I went to Carmax to sell them my MINI Cooper. They appraised it and offered me a stupidly low price. I told them I was in the business and to get real...they tried to tell me that was the correct value. I went to a Mitsubishi dealer and sold it to them for $4,000 more, and they were getting it at a good price at that so they could turn it around for a decent profit. This begs the question, are Carmax, A) Incompetent B) Thieves C) Both I would say a resounding 'C' personally. IP: Logged |

What kind of brake problem was it? I can help. I'm college major in auto repair. For one thing, cars don't just wear down one rotor so bad it needs replaced, but the other ones just need resurfaced. that doesnt happen. First off they are stupid because if they knew anything about brakes they would know that what you do to one side you do to the other. no matter which rotor it was they should have replaced the rotor on the other side too. You only replace a brake booster if it's too hard to push or it's too easy. A brake booster only multiplys the braking force. Rarely do you ever replace the master cylinder in a car unless it's really, really old and hasn't been used. They totally screwed you over. Brake boosters don't just fail all of the sudden. It doesn't happen that way.
