Complaint:
My 67yr old mother brought her 1997 honda civic in for a 30,000 mile service.
The car had no problems and was running fine. After talking with her I asked how much was the service. She replied $723.65 I thought this sounded like a high price so i called some of the local Honda dealers and inquired as to how much they charge for a 30,000 mile service. I received three quotes.1.Honda of Coral Springs $339.00 + tax
2.Ed Morse Honda $339.00 + tax
3.Sherwood Honda $363.00 + tax
I then called Auto Tech and asked why their price was so much higher(double the price) They replied that they do a much more complete service then the Honda dealers. They also said that they explained to my mom what was to be done. As my mom is not an expert in auto repair she agreed. She had bought her car to them before and trusted them. They also managed to get her to check the box " I do not require a written estimate " on the order form. If the car manufacturer's owners manual does not specify the "extra service" why did auto tech feel the need to do it. She asked for the 30,000 mile service nothing more. I feel that she was taken advantage of. I asked auto tech to credit her for the excess charges but they refused. They said "so its only about the money" What else would it be about?
