I'm a college student, and like other poor students who desperately need some spending cash, I looked around for a job. Then one day I got a letter in mail from some company called "Vector Marketing." They offered me 18 dollars an hour starting pay, flexible hours... yadda yadda. Anyways, I applied and I got accepted. I thought it was the best day of my life... The people seemed too "happy." So anyways, the manager tells me that I have to attend a three day seminar, and we won't be paid for it, "but that the training is well worth it and will pay off when I really start my job." BULL CROCK. Three splendidly perfect days absolutely ruined by their stupid "seminars," in which the stupid manager talked about how he got so successful selling freakin' knives. Then, after the three days, it was our turn. We were ordered to pester all the people close to us so that we could show them a "demonstration" of why our knives are better than theirs. So, in reality, we get paid only when we do a demonstration, and maybe a little more in commission, only if they were to buy something. As if that weren't bad enough, at the end of the demonstration, we were supposed to ask them for the names and numbers of all the people that THEY knew, so that we could go bother them also, ad infinitum. BLECH. Like I said, they're always so "happy..." How can a person be so happy every day? I think it's disgusting... I'm not pessimistic, but I'm not a "everything is so good" type of person, either... I'm telling you, if they call you, stay away... they're almost like a cult!IP: Logged |

Okay, first of all...if you're gonna say it, say it correctly. You do not have to pay for your knives. It's a security deposit. You only pay for 30% of the set's worth which right now is $142.19. The knives are worth $517, and if you decide you dont want to work with Cutco, you can A) Keep your knives and forfeit the sec. dep.; B) Give back your knives and get you sec. dep. back; or C) Sell your knives to someone for the $517 and make $371.81 in profit. Second, you're not "suckered" in because the manager answers all questions during the 90-minute interview. Also, you usually get the interview the same day you call/apply, unless it's on the weekend or you aren't available that day/time. Lastly, we are always "unreasonably" happy because we accutally love our jobs and know not to bring our personal problems to work, and as cutco man stated, positive attitudes bring positive results. In addition, you are not wasting your friends' and family's time, because you are doing THEM a favor by giving them the opportunity -in the long run- to save money and never have to buy another set of knives ever again. So maybe you say you aren't pessimistic, but you sure as hell aren't open to new opportunities .IP: Logged |
