On February 22, 2002, I purchased a new 2002 Silverado from Lake Tahoe Auto Village in South Lake Tahoe. CA I traded in a 1996 Z71 that had an existing loan with my credit union. Lake Tahoe Auto Village was to pay off the existing loan to my credit union. As of today, April 18, 2002, (56 days), my credit union has not received payment for this payoff. Lake Tahoe Auto Village has said 8 different times they have made the payment, they have not. (they cannot show any facts) . I have already made two payments on my old loan to save my credit rating, as well on the new loan. I understand this is becoming a common practice to improve cash flow. The dealer tries to sell the trade-in before paying off the loan. This is lying, deceiving and a breach of contract by people (dealerships) that represents GM. The really sad part is GM's Customer service does not really care. In there words they cannot control what there dealers do. I bet they would not put up with GM dealers selling new Fords! We know it is going to get paid, California DMV is looking into this. There appears to be no law enforcement in these matters unless you hire an expensive lawyer. Unless something is done about this you might be writing this letter in the near feature. All names and correspondence are available on request. If this as happened to you, below are some address. Also please e-mail me with your experience.
