The current process by UHaul used for rentals is unethical and possibly illegal. Rational as follows:Go to the web site and make a reservation for equipment weeks in advance. At the time of the reservation they charge your credit card a rental deposit of $100. They do inform you that the pickup location for the equipment is preference only but there are no indication that the delivery of service is at risk.
On the day of the pickup, you may as I have, discover that they have no equipment. They will try to find you a vehicle. No guarantees but what the hell they already have the use of your money. If you cancel on the day of pickup, you are subject to a $50 cancellation fee.
To further add insult to injury, you will sit on the phne for 1.5 to 2 hours at a stretch to be disconnected without ever speaking to a human.
This service is unethical at best and probably criminal at worst.
